Longoria moves on with The Baytown Disco trailer

EvaLongoria.jpgWhen I watched The Baytown Disco trailer the first thing that popped into my head was Joe Carnahan's Smokin' Aces (Filmstalker review) and the Tremor Brothers. The characters, their actions and some of the styling that they carried, it all seemed rather familiar. Throw in the strange female assassins sent to kill them and I was wondering if this was Smokin' Aces 3.

It seems though it's not, and it has a few names that you wouldn't expect in such a film, Billy Bob Thornton, Eva Longoria and Michael Rapaport, although the director and co-writer Barry Battles as well as his writing partner Griffin Hood are out on their first time feature.

Still, there's something about The Baytown Disco that looks like it could be fun, although I'm not sure if it's that Smokin' Aces (Filmstalker review) vibe that is drawing me in.

Here's the blurb for The Baytown Disco:

After her ex-husband Carlos (Billy Bob Thornton) shoots Celeste (Eva Longoria) three times in the gut, it's time to play dirty. In the fight for her godson, Rob (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), she hires three outlawed and redneck brothers (Clayne Crawford, Travis Fimmel, Daniel Cudmore) to bring him back to her. But nothing can be that simple in the South. What begins as a small rescue mission rises to a southern battle royale. This odd team must shoot their way through gorgeous female assassins, Native American hunters, Federal agents, and a whole lotta metal coming after them, while protecting Celeste's innocent child.

See what you think by looking at the trailer. Do you think that Eva Longoria is managing to escape the shackles of Desperate Housewives and move forward with her career?
